No Disposal Units in Tamil Nadu

  • Globally every year billions of CDs are manufactured and every year billions of these discs become outdated and unwanted.
  • Every year 28,789 tonnes of e-waste are discarded in Tamil Nadu.
  • It is estimated that it will take over one million years for a CD to completely breakdown in a landfill.
  • The plastic that can be obtained from recycling CDs can then be used in a variety of ways.
  • Over the years, the number of recycling companies that have taken on the task to recycle CDs has increased.
  • More than 380,000 tonnes of e-waste are disposed of every year in India.
